Talking to Amy about her break-up with Rory while trapped in the cockpit, the Doctor at first believed that this was his fault; she assured him that they both still loved him and would have him on alternate weekends.
When Oswin suggested to Rory that his nose could fence with the Doctor’s chin, she originally continued, ‘Actually, that would be kind of hot- I’d pay good money.’
RORY: Is it me or did he seem…happy?
AMY: He can be a stranger again. It’s all he really wants.
They look at each other awkwardly.
RORY: So…what if I come in?
AMY: What if you do?
RORY: I promise to take my shoes off.
AMY: It’s a start.
She goes inside and leaves the door open for him. Rory punches the air in joy.
AMY: Can see you!
RORY: Okay!

AMY: Now I get why Riddell’s here. Bit of brute force.
DOCTOR: He saved my life. Long time ago. This is the least I could do.
AMY: Why?
DOCTOR: In his timeline, he dies tomorrow. On the African plains. This is his last night.
AMY: This is your gift to him.

AMY: [about the Doctor] I think he’s lonely.
RORY: But the universe is full of tough needy girls in stale relationships.
AMY laughs and punches RORY on the arm.
RORY: What? I didn’t even mean you! You’re so paranoid. Seriously, you want to watch that.
AMY: Plus he is our son-in-law.
A moment of silence.
RORY: Still too weird.
AMY: Still way too weird. Maybe he’s trying to make amends. We’ve not exactly been left…unscathed by being with him.
RORY: I don’t blame him for that. I really don’t. But is this how he makes it up to us? Taking us somewhere in history to almost get killed every few months? Couldn’t he just write us a letter?
AMY: We keep saying yes, though.

BRIAN: You still haven’t talked to him, have you?
RORY: Don’t nag, Dad.
BRIAN: You can’t be with the Doctor forever.
RORY: Says who?
BRIAN: You both do. You’ve been cutting it back. Building a life. You said you’d had a meeting about applying to adopt…
RORY: We have, but what if we’re wrong? It’s a lot to give up. You’ve seen it, Dad. There’s so much out there.
BRIAN: And you’ll never see it all. You can’t. So don’t try. It’s better to leave the party while you’re still having fun…….I want to be a grandad, Rory. I’d be really good at it. Don’t make me wait forever.
Originally when Rory entered and saw the hospital beds, he first examined Arnold who was dead, his eyes staring lifelessly. Rory closed his eyes and walked on, then seeing the orderlies with his dad. “What seems to be the matter?” asked the first orderly while the second said, “Just lie down on the bed…” as their syringes appeared in their hands.
Rory grabbed a drip stand and used it to whip one orderly’s legs out from beneath him; the figure fell to the floor whereupon his chest and mouth grille sparked and exploded.

He then turned to his unconcious dad on the bed and slapped his face in an attempt to wake him. Brian stirred a little, and Rory was starting to push the bed when two discs of blue light appeared and exploded fire at him, slamming him back against the wall. With energy fizzing around him, Rory was paralysed as if he had been tazered. Then the Shakri emerged from the darkness; its glowing eyes had been the blue discs. Coming up close to examine Rory with disgust and fascination, the Shakri said, “So many of them. Crawling the planet, seeping into every corner, breeding and fighting. And when cornered, the urge to destroy.”
“Let the others go,” gasped Rory in pain. “Keep me, and let the others go.”

DOCTOR [about River]: She’s really, really good.
AMY: [proudly]: My daughter.
DOCTOR: My point. [to River] But we’re not married- that wedding never counted.
RIVER: Which wedding?
DOCTOR: The one in the aborted time-line, when I was disguised as a robot replica of myself.
RIVER: Could you be more specific?
As Amy declared that the couple’s bond with each other would prevent the Angels taking Rory, the Doctor asked, ‘That’s all? True love- against the Angels?’ Amy looked at the Doctor, pityingly, and said, ‘You’re right, River. I shouldn’t have let him travel alone.’
