“The Angels Take Manhattan” begins in the gloomy depths of 1930’s Downtown New York with a cinematic style narration, by a character called Sam Garner (Rob David). Garner is summoned by a sleazy old businessman, Grayle and is sent on a mission to investigate an abandoned apartment block, Winter Quays, in the depths of Manhattan. However, there is a catch: In the spooky old apartment block he stumbles upon a dying old man of the same name and is also confronted by a sinister statue.
2. They shouldn't be in the same room at the same time, should they?
3. Rory is transported back in time to 1938
4. This time the TARDIS travels down a black vortex, possibly foreshadowing the sad fate of the Ponds.
5. Just after the closing credits we are shown a 10-second short but sweet teaser trailer for the 2012 Christmas Special.
6. [The Weeping Angels] are used really well this time, fitting perfectly into the New York setting and equally as scary as they were in 2007’s “Blink”. Sinister giggling Cherubs are a great addition to the Angel family and a new twist.
7. What makes the statuesque assassins most effective this time round isn't their physical nature, but their unique method of murder, and just how crafty they can be applying it.
8. "The Angels Take Manhattan" continues the storybook theme so prevalent through Series 5-6. A plot best described as 'timey-wimey bookey-wookey', there's almost a metafictional quality to the episode – as Time is written as it is read and read as it is written - a notion as entertaining as it is typically Moffat.
9. The main thematic focus of this episode is marriage. It is a continuous theme throughout the entire story and is seen most clearly when, at the end Amy chooses her married life with Rory over the life with a Madman in a Box.
10. If you think you may have guessed how they are leaving, think again and be prepared for a few more twists and turns!
11. A device used in "A Town Called Mercy" is used again, whilst it shares similarities with "The God Complex" and "Bad Wolf".
12. Kingston plays River with much more maturity and she is not too dissimilar to the River we see in “Forest of the Dead”. However, River also reveals the flirtatious side to her character in a few amusing scenes with the Doctor.
13. One of the most memorable images doesn’t quite make sense if you think about it, but it’s a bloody good image so best not to think about it too much.
14. Be prepared for any kids in the room watching to issue a continual stream of, “But they looked away! He blinked! She was looking!”.

15. There are a lot of Moffat’s hastily delivered, off-the-cuff explanations, so pay attention.
16. The Doctor makes some final checks
17. A Huey Lewis & the News song gets mentioned.
18. Oh, that's gonna Sting!
19. Someone is texting a boy…
20. Rory's love of children is put to the test.
21. Lightbulbs and Christmas, again!
22. The Doctor shares a trait with Billy Crystal from "When Harry Met Sally", except opposite.
23. The events of "The Curse of the Black Spot" and "The Beast Below" get referenced.
24. A seemingly throwaway line in "The Impossible Astronaut" suddenly makes a lot of sense.
25. "I hate endings."
26. "One does one's best to hide the damage."
27. "He was so pleased to see you again."
28. If you want to read too much into one revelation, Steven Moffat probably doesn’t consider episode titles as spoilers.
This is what is important: Don’t travel alone!”
30. River Song: “It turns out that the person I killed never existed in the first place. Apparently there’s no record of him. It’s almost as if someone’s gone round deleting himself from every database in the universe.”
The Doctor: “You said I got too big.”
River Song: “And now no one’s ever heard of you. Didn’t you used to be somebody?”
The Doctor: “Weren’t you the woman who killed the Doctor?”
River Song: “Doctor Who?”
I can't hear you over the sound how meta this stuff is.
31. Something heard in "Asylum of the Daleks" is heard again.
Doctor Who?"
32. Some wrist action may be vital to the future.
33. "The Angels Take Manhattan" is the last time the Doctor sees Amy and Rory. From his POV and from theirs.
34. Mrs.Angerlo has nothing at all to do with ["11th Hour" reference] either, nor is Annette Crosbie Amy's daughter/Melody/an old Amy etc. The hark back to 'The Eleventh Hour' in Angels take Manhattan is much more subtle, more beautiful and more intelligent than that.
35. Make sure you watch The Eleventh Hour straight afterwards. You'll cry.
36. [Ponds' exit] is satisfying, a definite 'end of story'. But it's not going to be easy. You'll be thinking about their departure for days afterwards. It's dramtically satisfying but utterly heartbreaking and memorable.
37. - Moffat once said Rory's ability to return from the dead would be explained by the end of the Pond's run. You don't have to tell me how if it does, but do we finally get an explanation on how or why he was able to cheat death so many times?
- Hmmm. I don't know how to answer this without spoiling.
All i can safely say is: destiny/fixed points/always has been/it was always leading toward this.
Melody Malone":
New York Growled at my window. A friend once told this was the town of a million stories
Some nights I felt like they were all happening to me. This was one of those nights.
But what the hell - my stocking seams were straight, my lipstick was combat ready, and I was packing cleavage that could fell an ox at twenty feet.
River is basically seeing her parents die, seeing them go,” said Kingston. “God, Steven could have written a whole episode just about that, about the complexities and psychology of that, but he didn’t. It is about Amy saying goodbye to the Doctor… and [River] stays much more in the background.
one is past
the is two
three and four must wait
и
messages for three
four is from
and two you already know
Похоже, это всего навсего "messages from the past".
41. something old
42. farewell Amelia last ten
43. The Doctor gets slapped for doing something kind
44. “Are there video games there? I love video games”.
45. “1938. We just bounced off it.”
46. “Beware the Yowza. Do not at this point Yowz.”
47. “The others can hear. Is that why you need all the locks?“
46. There is a character that might remind you of someone from Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
47. “A page of handy hints. Preview, spoiler-free”

48. Someone lies to the Doctor
49. “If it was me, could you do it?”
50. Pay attention to chapter titles.
51. Someone says, "That's a stupid waste of regeneration energy!"
52. The Angels aren't the only statues to worry about this time: some threats are smaller, and one is a whole lot bigger.
53. It's probably not a good idea to let Rory go off by himself.
54. Get ready to add Sting's "Englishman in New York" to your playlist.
55. And someone we haven't mentioned yet says, "I hate endings!"

@темы: Слыми, Doctor Who
stil8here.diary.ru/p178181722.htm
