Sally Wainwright says: Bad things test people, and drama brings out character. That’s when heroines (and heroes) are created. When I wrote Coronation Street another writer said, ‘A heroine is someone you like, and then you pile as much s*** on her as you can think of’. Viewers say, ‘Why can’t they just be happy?’ That’s because it’s boring. On telly we are allowed to play out things we wouldn’t want to go through – the thrill of relating to an admirable person like Sergeant Catherine Cawood [Sarah Lancashire], whose experience we wouldn’t want to have to go through. Adversity creates heroic characters. So pile as much s*** on the character you care about most, that’s my advice.
Чем больше любишь персонажа, тем через большие страдания желаешь ему пройти, это же логично
В общем, эта позиция Уэйнрайт - это моя волна.
