На тумблере шикарно сформулировали отличную мысль. При том, что я не совсем согласна с фандомсекретом, ответом на который был этот комментарий
Осторожно! Здесь говорится о Ривер Сонг!River is intelligent, confident, trustworthy, and she can handle herself. Sure, she makes mistakes. Sure, nearly blowing the universe apart so as to not kill the Doctor wasn’t the smart thing to do (and could have been avoided if the Doctor had trusted her from the beginning, so they’re both at fault). But hey, she learns from this, as characters do. The Doctor has seen all her faults, her mistakes, and he still loves her, just as she loves him despite all the terrible things he has done.
No, they’re not the hand-holding, lovey-dovey kind of couple. I guess some people see love as that, as holding hands and hugging and being cute. That’s not all there is to love. It’s knowing and accepting each other’s flaws, and sometimes it’s struggling and frustration and getting angry at each other.
The Doctor saw what River did, saw her compromising reality and he still married her. He didn’t have to do that, no one made him do that. Not River, not him knowing she would be important in his future so he had to fulfil some sort of destiny (because how many times has he said ‘time can be rewritten’ in Moffat Who). He married her because he wanted to marry her. Because he fucking loves her.
Do you have to like River Song? Do you have to like River/Doctor? Hell no. But denying it’s canon as viciously as some people do it… that’s just stupid.
