Немного об истории Норвегии
Целый год искала книги по истории Норвегии после эпохи викингов: про них-то материалов куча, выбирай - не хочу, а вот то, что происходило дальше, как будто никому не интересно. Только в шестиэтажном книжном моей мечты, где, кажется, есть абсолютно всё, нашлась маленькая книжечка - всего 250 страниц. Можно вести долгие философские размышления о том, насколько норвежская история своеобразна и поучительна и по какой именно причине настолько низок к ней интерес, но сейчас я просто хочу поделиться вновь обретённым знанием.

...and, I'd just like the opportunity to say - without actually saying anything - does anyone here (hands up please) think that an industry ''heavyweight'' (yup, you at the back may not like '"Dinosaurs on a Spaceship'' or ''The Hungry Earth'' but, again in the real world, ''Industry Heavyweight'' is really how CC is seen) as Chris Chibnall, has been lured over to Showrun and Executive Produce a series as difficult and troublesome to make as '"Doctor Who'' with ''only'' one series guaranteed?

Дайри умерли, а я ещё нет.
Первые два эпизода "Класса" выйдут 22 октября и будут называться "For tonight we might die" и "The coach with the dragon tattoo". В первом эпизоде появится Доктор!
Официально известны имена персонажей: Чарли (Грег Остин), Эйприл (Софи Хопкинс), Рэм (Фади Эльсайед), Таня (Вивиан Опара), мисс Квилл (Кэтрин Келли).
И ещё немножко про сюжет отсюда:
It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them. And this incursion is only the beginning.

Поддавшись порыву, завела в телеграме канал, посвящённый британским драматическим сериалам:

Скидываю туда субъективно выбранные новости и субъективные же впечатления; то, что для твиттера слишком длинное, а для дайри слишком короткое и/или незначительное. Но, в общем, актуальное.
Пытаюсь хоть какую-то пользу извлечь из того, что я всё это смотрю и читаю)))

Блам суммировал в одном посте многочисленные производственные трудности на съёмках 1 сезона, который "через две недели съёмок мы отставали от графика на три недели".
Героические люди, героические.
To boil down the big production issues in block one, with a little bit of reading-between-the-lines but hopefully not too much...
* The original overall plan seems to have been that they'd start with two days doing the "space pig" sequence at the hospital, then the Auton attack from "Rose", then a week in London getting footage for all three episodes, then a couple of days in Cardiff getting various other location bits (like Rose's department-store basement and the rubble of Downing Street), then a two-week shoot at Hensol Castle for the Downing Street interiors, then further filming for the Auton Lair and restaurant scenes, then into studio.
* First thing to go awry was the space pig shoot -- they ran out of time, and tried to schedule a remount for the bits they'd missed in the days right after London.
* Then they lost a lot of time in London, and various scenes which were meant to be shot on location had to be rewritten for other locations or studio (including a brief scene of the Slitheen policeman at the Powell Estate which meant they had to mock the place up as a studio set).
* Then the Autons-in-the-basement sequence also took too long (and would need pickups later), and the space pig remount had to be pushed back *again*.
* Somewhere around this time, the shoot for Clive's street, and the shop-floor and exterior scenes for Rose's department store, also had to be postponed because other stuff had overrun.
* It's around this point that the famous "we're two weeks in and three weeks behind schedule, SEND HELP" conversations happened, which resulted in Tracie Simpson being airlifted in by Julie Gardner to get things back under control.

Экклстон в недавнем интервью ещё немножко срывает покровы:
Interviewer: "Are you the man we can thank for the rebirth of Doctor Who? You were well received, you're maybe not the fan favourite the way someone like David Tennant is, but if you'd stuffed that up, there would be no David Tennant, there would be no Matt Smith".
Eccleston: "I think the man you have to thank is Russell T Davies. He wrote it. And I always feel that the showrunners and the writers are the people who deserve and own the kudos. But what I will say is the first series of any show is always very difficult to sell to the audience, and I'm very proud that through what was a really badly organised and certainly badly produced first series-"
Interviewer: "-which everyone's acknowledged, haven't they?"
Eccleston: "I don't know."
Interviewer: "I think they have."
Eccleston: "I hope they have. They certainly didn't acknowledge it at the time and I wished they would've done, because then things would've worked out very differently... but I'm very proud that I managed to find a way through the chaos that they imposed, and get us picked up, so-"
Interviewer: "And do you regret that you didn't have another season?"
Eccleston: "There's always regret when you play a role like that, because what you do is you - I watched it back and I thought, OK, next time don't do this, do that, you know, calibrate the performance. It was kind of tragic for me that I didn't play him for longer, because you know, he's a beautiful character and I have a great deal of professional pride [in it] and had I done a second season, there would've been a marked improvement in my performance. I was learning new skills in terms of playing light comedy, etc, etc. I was not known for light comedy, and again production did not allow for that. It's very important on the first series that you make a very informed and intelligent choice - even if it means breaking the budget - about getting the first director who is going to set the tone for the season, for the way the actors relate, and that did not happen. Disaster. But the show has survived. Thank God. And Capaldi, and Matt, and David - are just brilliant. And I know how brilliant they are, because I've been inside it."
Interviewer: "It's hard."
Eccleston: "It is difficult, because you're doing the same thing in each episode, and you've got to keep that fresh, and you've got to suggest alien and you've got to suggest human."

Я должна как-нибудь написать толковый пост про "Мистера Робота", но пока на ходу:
2 сезон долго раскачивался, но с середины сезона каждый следующий эпизод превосходит предыдущий. После 10 эпизода я уже не могу молчать. И это как раз эпизод без откровенного психодела или твистов с большой буквы Т. Но каждую сцену хочется вырезать и рассмотреть под микроскопом. Здесь работают даже статичные моменты "происходит ничего" и "офигительные истории", если они не скатываются во флэшбеки.
Спойлеры
Я люблю этот сериал. Я люблю его вопреки китайской мафии и революционному пафосу. Я люблю майндфак, и слом четвёртой стены, и погруженнных в себя героев, и предсказуемые и неожиданные плоттвисты, и то, что теперь называют троллингом аудитории.
Я в какой-то момент подумала, что он, наверное, теперь уже не будет меня удивлять, но оказалось, что этот момент ещё не настал.
Своего часа ждёт пост про одиночество в "Мистере Роботе". Я, кажется, никогда не видела такого одиночества в попкультуре.
